Goodbye Sunny & Lola, Hello William — but Will I Get Over the 2010 Camaro?

by Jane Devin on November 29, 2009

Saying goodbye to my Camaros wasn’t easy. Driving Sunny and Lola made me feel young and oddly popular. They were both attention-getters — everyone from the baristas at Starbucks to strangers in parking lots wanted to see the Camaro up close. One guy even asked me for a test drive! I’ve never driven a car that created that kind of buzz. I got a particular kick out of converting two Ford Mustang owners, who were particularly impressed by the Camaro’s superior styling.

I’m now driving a 2010 Chevy Equinox. I named him William, and he’ll be with me from Seattle to Texas, and many stops in-between. Stay tuned for more info on my latest ride, and stories from the road!

While watching, I just knew that GM or one of it’s subsidiaries will soon add you to the payroll of PR , Marketing or Advertising departments. You moved me as literally as those sports car sirens moved you. :-)

While the Camaros were great for the warm weather states you visited, you’re certainly going to need something a bit sturdier to drive from Seattle to Texas. I’m assuming you’ll be facing more snow sometime soon. Our first snow, here in Michigan, looks to be mid-week. Can’t wait!

Looking forward to pics and observations about William (Equinox) as I plan to stay living in the North for the rest of my live-long days. I like the smaller, mid-size SUV’s, although I will say that after driving my Dad’s Buick Enclave twice to Virginia in 2007, I fell in love. But, I’d personally like something luxe and bit smaller. So William, woo me!

Love it! You’ve mastered the video quite well, and your choice of background music is stellar. Looking forward to the Equinox review, but truly…you are a Camaro woman.

The 2010 Equinox looks like a great traveling companion. You didn’t mention which model of Equinox, although perhaps it is the LTZ, since it appears to have the navigation system?

The Equinox either comes with the direct injection 2.4L Four, or the direct injection 3L Six, both interesting engines. I bet William can go longer between stops than you can.

Holler if you get near Dallas; we’re just north of there.

Loved this! You are becoming the Cecil B DeMille of GM (and yes, we are ready for our close-up!). GREAT song choice. Having finally met you, I can attest to the fact that any vehicle would be lucky to have you. You are just this side of tucking them in at night.
I can appreciate how it must feel going from two hot sports cars to a small SUV, but give it time. If nothing else, you can fit more Chevy swag in it! BTW, did you know that William’s rear seats split, fold and slide? Like a cheerleader? :-)
Pop and Ice: where in Michigan are you located? Happy to show you a new Equinox if you are interested.

I agree with Karoli…..you are a Camaro woman. After raising kids and all of your experiences, you deserve a bright and shiny sports car. Unless of course you wind up back in Minnesota. Then I think you should go back to Ruby.

I’m loving your stories and your vids, Jane. Be safe out there!

Great job on the video! I did not get to meet Sunny or Lola but will make sure to look at that model when the opportunity presents itself. William I did meet and was totally enthralled by the back-up camera ~ absolutely love it.

Love the videos (and the cars). What app do you use to edit your video? On my list of things to learn how to do.

Wow Jane look at you with your Mac!
Very beautiful automobiles for sure.
I was just wondering, are you still having to pinch yourself that this is what you are doing right now? Those of us who followed you back in the day know something of your trials and tribulations in the past. This must be like a dream. So happy for you!
